원유 중개업자들은 미국 달러화 약세로 투자자들이 달러화에서 원유와 금 등 안전한 상품으로 투자대상을 옮기고 있으며, 멕시코와 나이제리아의 석유 공급 차질도 유가 상승에 한 몫하고 있다고 분석했습니다.
The price of crude oil rose above 113 dollars a barrel for the first time today (Tuesday) as the weakening dollar makes oil more affordable for foreign buyers.
Crude oil futures rose one-point-seven percent from Monday's close to a record high of 113-dollars-and-66 cents on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Dealers say the declining dollar also prompts investors to switch funds out of the U.S. currency and into safe-haven commodities such as oil and gold.
Another factor driving up oil prices is disruption of supplies from Mexico and Nigeria.
Bad weather has forced Mexico to close some oil export terminals. And oil company Eni stopped production at some Nigerian oil wells Saturday, saying saboteurs had caused explosions at some of the facilities.
