중동을 순방중인 미국의 지미 카터 전 대통령의 가자지구 방문이 금지됐습니다. 카터 전 대통령은 15일 요르단 강 서안지구의 라말라에서 이같이 밝히고 구체적으론 언급하지 않았습니다. 이스라엘 당국자들은 이에 대해 논평하지 않았습니다.
카터 전 대통령은 이날 라말라에서 팔레스타인 자치정부의 살람 파야드 총리와 요르단 강 서안지구내 하마스의 고위 관계자 나세르 샤에르와 만났습니다. 카터 전 대통령은 또 고 야세르 아라파트 팔레스타인 자치정부 수반의 묘에 헌화했습니다.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter says he has been denied permission to enter the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, as part of his visit to the region.
Mr. Carter spoke today in the West Bank town of Ramallah. He did not provide details about the denial of access.
There has been no comment from Israeli authorities.
The former U.S. president met today in Ramallah with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and a leading Hamas figure in the West Bank, Nasser Shaer. He also laid a wreath on the tomb of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
Mr. Carter says his tour of the region is aimed at advancing Middle East peace efforts. However, he has been criticized by U.S. and Israeli officials for his plans to meet with Hamas representatives.
The United States considers Hamas a terrorist group.
