중국 외교부는 미국 하원의 결의안이 중국의 국내문제를 무례하게 간섭하고 티베트의 역사와 현실을 왜곡하는 것이라고 주장했습니다. 중국 외교부는 일부 미국 의원들이 티베트의 정신적 지도자 달라이 라마의 추종자들에 의한 범죄행위를 외면하고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.
낸시 펠로시 미국 하원의장의 지지 속에 통과된 하원 결의안은 중국이 티베트 시위자들에 대한 폭력적인 대응을 끝내고, 티베트에 대한 문화, 종교, 경제적 탄압도 중단하라고 촉구했습니다.
결의안은 또 중국 정부가 달라이 라마와 조건없이 직접 만나고, 폭력행위에 가담하지 않은 티베트 시위자들을 즉각 석방하라고 촉구했습니다.

China says it is "strongly indignant" over a U.S. House of Representatives resolution condemning its crackdown in Tibet.
The measure, which passed Wednesday (by a vote of 413-to-one) with the backing of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, calls on China to end its violent response to Tibetan protesters and what it calls Beijing's continuing cultural, religious, economic and linguistic repression inside Tibet.
It also urges Chinese leaders to hold talks without preconditions directly with the Dalai Lama, and to immediately release Tibetans imprisoned for non-violently opposing Chinese policies in Tibet.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry says the resolution is a "rude interference" in China's internal affairs, and distorts "the history and reality of Tibet." The ministry says some U.S. lawmakers ignored crimes committed by supporters of the Dalai Lama, Tibet's exiled spiritual leader.
