취임후 첫 러시아 방문에 나선 반기문 유엔 사무총장이 오늘 러시아 경제 지도자들을 만났습니다.
반기문 총장은 어제 블라드미르 푸틴 대통령과 드미트리 메드베데프 대통령 당선인을 만났습니다. 반 총장은 특히 메드베데프 당선인에게 대통령 당선을 축하하고, 유엔과 코소보 등에서 러시아가 담당할 수 있는 역할에 대해 논의했습니다.
메드베데프 당선인은 코소보의 독립선언과 관련해 이 문제를 유엔 결의안과 배치되는 방향으로 풀어가는 것은 비생산적이라고 말했습니다. 반기문 총장은 국제사회가 코소보에서 폭력을 유발할 수 있는 어떠한 행동도 자제해야 한다고 촉구한 바 있습니다.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon meets Russian business leaders today (Thursday) as he continues his first official visit to the country.
On Wednesday, Mr. Ban met in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin and President-elect Dmitry Medvedev.
Mr. Ban congratulated Mr. Medvedev on winning last month's elections and the two discussed a wide range of issues including Russia's role in the United Nations and Kosovo.
Mr. Medvedev called attempts to resolve international problems in violation of U.N. resolutions -- "in particular Kosovo" -- counterproductive. Russia has sharply criticized Kosovo's declaration of independence. Serbia has called Kosovo's declaration illegal.
Several other countries have recognized Kosovo's independence from Serbia.
