어제 일본 도쿄에서 이틀간의 회의를 마친 G8 장관들은 브라질과, 중국, 인도 등 개발지원에 적극 나서고 있는 비회원 국가들과의 협력도 강화하기로 했습니다. 브라질과, 중국, 인도는 각각 이번 G8 회의에 대표를 파견했습니다.
이번 회의의 의장을 맡은 일본의 고무라 마사히코 외상은 전세계 식량가격 상승에 대한 대처방안도 G8 대표들이 논의했다고 밝혔습니다.
The world's most industrialized nations have agreed to meet their pledge to double aid to Africa.
Development ministers from the so-called G-8, or group of eight industrialized nations, concluded two days of talks Sunday in Tokyo.
Delegates also agreed to increase cooperation with emerging donor countries such as Brazil, China and India, whose representatives joined G-8 ministers at the meeting.
Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura, who chaired the meeting, said delegates also discussed how to reduce rising global food prices.
Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda told delegates Saturday that urgent action is also needed on global climate change and development assistance for impoverished nations.
The prime minister said a major change in modern lifestyles is the only way to reduce gas emissions from carbon-based fuels.
