이라크의 모슬 북부 지역에서 납치됐던 42명의 대학생들이 석방됐다고 이라크 경찰 관리가 오늘 밝혔습니다.
경찰은 신원이 밝혀지지 않은 무장괴한이 모슬 남쪽 지역에서 두 대의 버스를 기습 공격했다고 밝히면서 한 대의 버스는 도망쳤지만 나머지 한 대의 버스에 타고 있던 학생들이 납치됐다고 밝혔습니다.
그 이후 모슬의 보안군의 중재로 학생들이 모두 풀려났다고 모슬의 보안 대변인은 말했습니다.
한편 이라크 관리는 바그다드 사드르 지역에서 있었던 미군과 무장괴한의 총격으로 적어도 20명이 사망하고 50여명 이상이 부상을 입었다고 밝혔습니다.
총격전은 일요일 새벽 시아파 급진파인 무크타다 알 사드르의 무장 충성파들이 거주하는 인근 지역에서 발생했습니다.
이라크 관리는 사망자의 신원에 대해서는 밝히지 않고 부상자 가운데 어린이와 부녀자가 포함돼 있다고 밝혔습니다.

Iraqi officials say 42 university students who were kidnapped near the northern city of Mosul today (Sunday) have been released.
Police say unidentified gunmen ambushed two buses in a village south of Mosul. One of the buses fled, but the second was stopped and the students were abducted.
Later, a Mosul security spokesman (Brigadier General Khalid Abdul Sattar) said the students were freed after an operation by security forces.
Elsewhere, police said five people were killed and 17 wounded in overnight clashes between the U.S. military and gunmen near Baghdad's Sadr City.
Authorities did not give details on those killed today (Sunday), but said women and children were among the wounded.
The U.S. military had no immediate comment on the fighting.
