미국과 일본, 그리고 일부 유럽 국가 외교관들이 29일 중국 관리들의 철저한 통제 속에서 티베트 수도 라싸 방문을 마친 가운데 새로운 시위가 벌어진 것으로 보고됐습니다.
티베트국제캠페인과 티베트 망명정부는 이날 시위는 앞서 지난 14일 독립시위가 폭력사태로 번졌던 라싸의 주요 불교사원 인근에서 벌어졌다고 말했습니다.
이런 가운데, 15개국의 외교관들이 중국 당국의 승인아래 라싸를 방문했습니다. 베이징 주재 미국 대사관은 성명을 통해 이번 방문은 일정이 빡빡했고 외교관들은 공식 일정에서 벗어나거나 개별적으로 이동할 수 없었다고 말했습니다.

Fresh protests were reported in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa today (Saturday) as diplomats from the United States, Japan and several European countries wrapped up a closely guarded tour of the region organized by Chinese officials.
The International Campaign for Tibet and Tibet's government in exile said new protests had occurred near major Buddhist temples in Lhasa where earlier demonstrations turned violent March 14th.
Diplomats from 15 countries visited the Tibetan capital on a Chinese-approved tour of the region.
The U.S. Embassy in Beijing said in a statement that the trip to Lhasa was heavily scheduled and participants were not able to deviate from the official itinerary, nor move around independently. The delegates were also not allowed to hold unsupervised conversations with local residents.
Thursday, about 30 monks of the Jokhang Temple disrupted a similar government-controlled visit by foreign journalists. The monks complained about a lack of religious freedom.
