중국의 멍젠주 공안부장은 티베트에 주둔중인 보안군에 추가 소요사태에 대비해 경계태세를 유지할 것을 지시했습니다.
중국 관영매체들은 24일, 중국내에서 벌어진 항의시위중 13명이 체포됐다고 보도했습니다. 당국은 티베트 수도, 라싸에서 시위에 참가했던 29명의 추가 용의자들에 대한 체포영장을 발부했습니다.
멍젠주 공안부장은 라싸 방문중에 정부가 티베트 불교승려들에 대한 이른바 ‘애국계몽’운동을 강화할 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 먼젠주 부장은 정부 조사단을 이끌고 지난 23일과 24일 티베트를 방문했습니다.
멍 부장은 티베트에서 가장 신성시되며, 지난 14일 항의 시위의 진원지가 됐던 조캉 사원에 들러 승려들이 국민 단합을 해치고 있다고 비난했습니다. 그는 시위에 참가한 사람들이 티베트 불교 교리를 위반했다고 말했습니다.

A top Chinese official has ordered security forces in Tibet to remain on alert for further unrest, as authorities have announced the arrest of 13 people allegedly involved in recent protests in the capital, Lhasa.
State-run media say 13 people were arrested Monday in China's crackdown on the protests. Authorities issued arrest warrants today (Tuesday) for an additional 29 accused of involvement in the peaceful protests that turned violent.
During a visit to Lhasa, China's minister for public security, Meng Jianzhu, said the government will step up its so-called "patriotic education" campaigns at Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. Meng headed a delegation of Chinese officials on a tour of Tibet Sunday and Monday.
During a stop at the Jokhang temple, Tibet's most sacred shrine, and a (Sera and Drepung) site of the March 14th protests, Meng chided monks for undermining what he called national solidarity. He accused those who participated in the riots of violating the doctrines of Tibetan Buddhism.
