Japanese media say a U.S. sailor linked to the stabbing death of a taxi driver near Tokyo has been taken into custody.
The Kyodo News agency says a sailor missing from a U.S. naval base for several weeks wanted for questioning in the killing was apprehended today (Saturday).
Police have not released his name, and have not said whether he is a suspect.
The body of the 61-year-old driver was found in his taxi Wednesday night in Yokosuka, a city located south of Tokyo that is home to the base.
Authorities say they found the sailor's credit card in the taxi when the driver's body was found.
