이같은 발표는 이날 미국 연방 관보에 공식 등재됐습니다.
국무부는 ‘알-샤바브’가 미국인의 안전이나 미국의 국가안보와 대외정책이나 경제를 위협하는 테러음모를 꾸미거나 그럴 위험이 있다고 밝혔습니다.
최근 수개월동안 이 무장단체는 소말리아 정부와 이디오피아 군에 대한 일련의 공격이 자신들의 소행이라고 주장했습니다.
지난 주 알-샤바브 요원들이 수도 모가디슈 외곽의 한 검문소를 매복공격해 정부군 3명의 목을 잘랐습니다.

The U.S. State Department has designated Somalia's al-Shabab insurgent group as a foreign terrorist organization.
The announcement was officially published today (Tuesday) in the U.S. federal register.
The announcement says the group has committed or poses a risk of committing acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals, or the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States.
In recent months the Islamist militant group has claimed responsibility for a series of bombings and attacks on Somali government and Ethiopian soldiers.
Last week, members of al-Shabab beheaded three government soldiers during an ambush on a checkpoint outside the capital, Mogadishu. In February, the group claimed responsibility for bombings that killed 20 people, mostly Ethiopian migrants.
