홍콩 정부는 최근 몇주 사이에 3명의 어린이가 조류독감 증세로 사망한 후에 모든 유치원과 초등학교에 대해 2주간 휴교령을 내렸습니다.
교육부는 12일, 조류독감의 확산을 막기 위해 부활절이 지나야 학교들이 다시 개교할 수 있을 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
지난 주에 홍콩 관내의 30여개 학교의 어린이들이 조류독감 증세를 보였습니다.
이중 일곱살 난 남자 아이가 지난 11일 병원에서 사망하고, 어린이 2명은 이달 초에 비슷한 증세로 사망했습니다.
홍콩 당국은 현재 전문가팀이 어린이들의 사망원인을 조사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
홍콩에서는 지난 1997년 조류독감으로 6명이 사망했습니다. 또 홍콩에서는 지난 2003년에 급성 호흡기 질환인 중증급성호흡기증후군, 싸쓰가 발생했습니다.

The government of Hong Kong has ordered all kindergartens and primary schools to close for two weeks after three children died and many more became sick with flu-like symptoms in recent weeks.
The Education Department said today (Wednesday) that all schools for young children will begin the Easter holiday early to prevent the spread of influenza.
More than 30 primary school children in Hong Kong have fallen ill with flu-like symptoms last week. A seven-year old boy died in the hospital on Tuesday. Two children died earlier this month with similar symptoms.
The government says it has engaged a team of experts to determine what caused the three deaths.
Six people died in an outbreak of bird flu in Hong Kong in 1997. In 2003, Hong Kong was hit by SARS, the severe acute respiratory syndrome.
