일본의 제1 야당인 민주당은 정부의 차기 일본은행 총재 인사안에 반대한다고 9일 밝혔습니다.
민주당의 나오토 간 총재 대행은 이날 정부가 일본 은행 후임으로 과거 재무상을 역임한 무토 도시로씨를 지명한데 대해 반대한다고 말했습니다.
이에 앞서 일본의 후쿠다 야스오 총리는 오는 19일로 임기가 만료되는 일본 은행 총재 후임에 무토씨를 지명해 국회에 동의안을 제출했습니다. 일본 정부는 오는 14일 중의원과 참의원 양원 본회의에서 이번 인사안을 투표에 부쳐 일본은행의 최고 집행부를 구성하겠다는 방침입니다.
그러나 민주당이 무토 총재안에 대해서 반대 입장을 분명히 하고 있어서 야당이 과반수를 차지하고 있는 참의원에서 인사안이 부결될 가능성도 배제할 수 없습니다. 이 경우 일본 정국은 일본 중앙은행 총재가 공석이 된 책임 소재를 둘러싸고 치열한 공방이 벌어질 가능성이 큽니다.

Japan's main opposition party says it opposes the government's nomination of a former finance ministry official to head the nation's central bank.
Naoto Kan, the acting head of the Democratic Party of Japan said today that Toshiro Muto's ministry background would give the government undue influence over monetary policy.
Opposition parties could block his nomination because they control the parliament's upper house, which must approve the appointment to head the Bank of Japan.
Kan said the Democrats would make their final decision after parliamentary hearings on Muto's nomination on Tuesday.
Officials called on lawmakers Friday to act responsibly to avoid a bank policy vacuum at a time when global economic conditions are unstable.
