러시아가 우크라이나와의 천연가스 공급을 둘러싼 분쟁을 끝내고, 우크라이나에 천연가스 공급을 재개하기로 했습니다.
러시아와 우크라이나의 국영 천연가스 회사 가즈프롬과 나프토가즈는 5일 발표한 공동 선명에서 우크라이나에 대한 천연가스 공급을 막았던 조치들이 모두 풀렸다고 밝혔습니다. 성명은 러시아산 천연가스가 우크라이나를 통과해 서유럽으로 정상적으로 공급되고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
성명은 러시아의 블라드미르 푸틴 대통령과 우크라이나의 빅토르 유슈첸코 대통령이 전화 대화를 나눈 후 협상이 타결됐다고 덧붙였습니다.
러시아측은 우크라이나가 올해들어 지금까지 천연가스 대금 6 억 달러를 주지 않았다며 이번주 천연가스 공급을 절반 이상 줄인 바 있습니다.
Russia and Ukraine have reached an agreement restoring natural gas supplies to Ukraine.
In a joint statement Wednesday, the Ukrainian gas company Naftogaz and Russia's gas onopoly Gazprom say all restrictions on supplies to Ukraine have been lifted. It also says gas pumped through Ukraine to western Europe is flowing at full volume.
The statement says the breakthrough follows a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yushchenko.
The deal ended a week-long standoff triggered by Russian demands that Kyiv pay 600 million dollars it owes Gazprom for gas consumed so far in 2008. Gazprom cut gas deliveries to Ukraine by more than 50 percent this week. Ukraine threatened to siphon gas meant for Europe.
