피델 카스트로는 29일 라울이 새 대통령에 선출 된 후 처음으로 공산당 기관지 ‘그란마’에 실린 성명에서 이같이 밝혔습니다.
피델 카스트로는 현재 동생 라울이 쿠바를 이끌고 나갈 수 있는 모든 법적 헌법상의 권력을 갖고 있다고 말했습니다. 올해 81살의 피델 카스트로는 자신이 모든 공직에서 물러났다고 재확인했습니다.
올해 76살의 라울 카스트로는 새 국가평의회 의장으로 선출된 직후, 앞으로 모든 주요 정책 결정에 있어서 형과 사전에 상의하겠다고 다짐했습니다.

Fidel Castro has assured Cubans that his brother, Raul, is solely in charge as the country's new president.
Mr. Castro's statement was published today (Friday) in the Communist Party newspaper, Granma, his first public comments since Raul Castro became president February 24th.
Fidel Castro said his brother has all legal and constitutional powers to lead Cuba. The 81-year-old former president reaffirmed that he is personally detached from any post.
Shortly after taking over as president, 76-year-old Raul Castro pledged to consult with his older brother on all major state decisions.
Fidel Castro ruled the island nation for nearly 50 years before announcing he would not accept another term as president. He still heads Cuba's Communist Party.
