The encouter came a week before crucial primary contests in Ohio and Texas.
Senator Clinton scolded Obama over campaign pamphlets that claimed her healthcare plan forced people to buy insurance even if they cannot afford it. Senator Obama said his campaign had not "whined" when Clinton's campaign distributed similar negative attacks against him.
In the area of foreign policy, Clinton said previous statements by Obama, such as his agreeing to meet with dictators wihtout preconditions, shows he is not ready to assume the mantle of commander in chief.
Obama responded that Clinton showed a lack of judgment in voting to authorize President Bush to invade Iraq. She later admitted that her vote had been a mistake.
