최근 미군의 일본인 여중생 성폭행 사건과 관련해서, 일본 정부가 현지 주둔미군의 범죄행위를 근절시키기 위한 방안을 발표했습니다.
코무라 마사히코 일본 외상은 22일 오키나와 남부 지역에 감시카메라를 설치하고, 미군과 일본인의 합동 순찰대를 운영할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
코무라 외상은 미군의 부대 밖 외출 규정에 대해서도 일본 정부의 검토가 이뤄질 것이라고 말했습니다.
지난주 오키나와에서는 미 해병이 14살 소녀를 성폭행한 혐의로 기소되 큰 파문이 일었습니다. 미 육군 소속 군인 한 명도 오키나와의 한 호텔에서 필리핀 여성을 성폭행한 혐의로 수사를 받고 있습니다.
한편 현지 미군은 20일 모든 군인과 가족에게 외출금지령을 내렸습니다.

Japan has announced a series of measures aimed at cracking down on criminal misconduct by U.S. troops stationed there, in response to a number of recent incidents, including two alleged sexual assaults.
Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura announced today (Friday) that security cameras will be installed throughout the southern island of Okinawa, as well as joint U.S.-Japanese patrols.
Komura also says Tokyo will review the U.S. military's policies for allowing its personnel to live off-base.
The new measures are being implemented after the arrest last week of a U.S. Marine accused of raping a 14-year-old Okinawan girl. A U.S. Army serviceman is also under investigation for raping a young Philippine woman at a local hotel.
U.S. military commanders issued an order Wednesday restricting all personnel and their families on Okinawa to bases, jobs and off-base housing indefinitely.
