버냉키 의장은, 필요하다면 중앙은행이 연방기금금리를 추가로 인하할 준비가 돼 있지만, 성장촉진 노력의 도를 넘고 인플레를 유발하지 않도록 관계기관들이 지금까지 취해진 조치들을 평가해야 할 것이라고 말했습니다.
헨리 폴슨 재무장관도 이날 청문회에서 올해 미국 경제 성장이 다소 둔화될 것이라고 전망했습니다.

The head of the U.S. central bank says the economy faces a period of "sluggish growth" followed by stronger expansion later this year.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke made the comments to a key Senate committee today (Thursday).
Bernanke also said the Fed is watching inflation closely, but price hikes appear moderate for the time being.
He said the bank is ready to cut interest rates further if needed, but said officials need to evaluate the actions taken so far to be sure they do not overdo efforts to stimulate growth and spark inflation.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson also testified, and said U.S. economic growth will be slower than it has been in recent years.
