차베스 대통령은 콜롬비아 정부가 미국의 지시에 따라 행동하고 있다면서 이같이 주장했으나 구체적인 내용은 언급하지 않았습니다. 차베스 대통령은 25일, 수도 카라카스에서 기자들에게 주장하면서 콜롬비아의 베네수엘라 군사침공 계획에 관한 자신의 주장을 뒷받침할 특수 정보를 갖고 있다고 말했습니다.
차베스 대통령은 그러면서 콜롬비아가 베네수엘라에 대한 군사침공이 벌어질 경우 베네수엘라의 모든 석유수출을 중단할 것이라고 말했습니다.
차베스 대통령의 이 같은 주장은 콘돌리사 라이스 미 국무장관이 콜롬비아를 방문해 알바로 우리베 대통령과 만난 가운데 나왔습니다.
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is accusing Colombia of plotting what he calls military aggression against Venezuela.
Mr. Chavez contends the Colombian government is acting at the direction of the United States.
The Venezuelan leader gave reporters in Caracas no details, but said he had unspecified intelligence to support his claims of an impending provocation. Should there be a military strike by Colombia, Mr. Chavez says, Venezuela will cut off all oil exports.
As he lashed out at Colombia on Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was in Colombia meeting with President Alvaro Uribe. (As she concluded a two-day visit,) Rice assured Mr. Uribe of continuing U.S.support.
Rice did not mention Mr. Chavez or discuss deteriorating relations between Colombia and Venezuela, beyond noting that Mr. Uribe's government faces many challenges.
