26일 세계경제포럼에서 폐막 연설을 발표할 후쿠다 총리는 25일 영국의 파이낸셜 타임즈가 보도한 기고문에서, 기후 변화에 대응하고 아프리카를 포함한 세계의 경제 발전을 도모하는 것은 일본이 주안점을 두고 있는 사안이라고 밝혔습니다.
후쿠다 총리는 세계경제포럼의 논의가 단기적인 세계 경제 불안정에만 집중될까 우려스럽다고 말했습니다.
후쿠다 총리는 이산화탄소 방출량을 감소하기 위한 일본 정부의 목표량을 자세히 공개할 예정이라고 말했습니다. 후쿠다 총리는 또 개발도상국들이 기후 변화로부터 오는 충격에 적절히 대응할 수 있도록 지원하는 재정적 방안도 공개하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has promised to introduce Tokyo-led initiatives on climate change and economic development in the near future.
Mr. Fukuda is scheduled to speak at the World Economic Forum on Saturday. He wrote in the "Financial Times" newspaper today (Friday) that combating climate change and promoting development, particularly in Africa, are two issues his country is working hard to address.
He said he fears that recent instability in the world economy might dominate the agenda at the forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The Japanese leader said he plans to detail how his country will set its own national target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He also said he will reveal another Japanese initiative to establish a financial mechanism that would help developing countries adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.
