이라크 북부 모술시에서 24일 자살폭탄 공격으로 경찰서장과 경찰관 2명이 숨졌다고 현지 치안 당국이 밝혔습니다. 이들은 하루 전날 폭발이 발생한 곳을 둘러보다가 또 다른 공격을 받고 숨졌습니다.

수니 아랍계 거주지인 이 곳은 전 날에도 대량 폭발이 발생했으며, 현재까지 최소한 34명이 숨지고 2백여명이 부상을 당했습니다.

Officials say the attacker, dressed in a police uniform, walked up to the police chief (Brig. Gen. Falih Mohammed Hassan) and then detonated his explosives vest. The police chief was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The attack took place after the police chief inspected the site of Wednesday's massive explosion that devastated a mostly Sunni Arab neighborhood. A top provincial official (Hisham al-Hamdani) says the death toll from that blast has risen to 34, and more than 200 people were wounded.
He said rescue teams and police were still searching for possible survivors in the rubble of buildings and houses flattened by the blast. It is not clear what caused the explosion.
