탈레트 마수드 예비역 장성은, 무샤라프 대통령이 파키스탄 군의 명성을 떨어뜨리고 파키스탄 군에 대한 국민의 지지를 훼손하고 있다고 지적했습니다.
1999년 군사 쿠데타로 집권한 무샤라프 대통령은 지난 11월에 국가 비상사태를 선포하고 자신의 재선을 무효화한 법관들을 축출한 후에 임기 5년의 대통령에 재선됐습니다.

A group of retired Pakistani military officers has called for President Pervez Musharraf to resign immediately.
The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society says it is in the "supreme national interest" for the president to step down, because he is a source of divisiveness in the country.
The call was made in a statement released late Tuesday following a meeting of former generals, admirals, air marshals and other retired officers in the capital, Islamabad.
Retired General Talet Masood says Mr. Musharraf is bringing down the reputation of the army and undermining its support among the people.
Mr. Musharraf, who came to power in a 1999 coup, secured five more years as president in November after declaring emergency rule and ousting judges who might have annulled his re-election by the outgoing parliament.
