사르코지 대통령은 13일, 사흘간의 중동 순방의 첫번째 기착지인 리야드에서 압둘라 국왕과의 정상회담에서 이같이 제의했습니다.
사르코지 대통령은 그의 중동 순방중에 수십억달러의 민간 및 군사 무기계약을 달성할 계획입니다.
관계자들은 사르코지 대통령이 압둘라 국왕에게 앞으로 수주내에 프랑스 핵 전문가들이 사우디 아라비아를 방문해 양국의 핵협력 가능성을 협의하게 될 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
프랑스의 사르코지 정부는 이미 알제리, 리비아와 핵협력협정을 체결했으며, 오는 15일 방문하게 될 아랍에미리트연합과 이와 유사한 핵협력협정을 논의할 예정입니다.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy heads to Qatar today (Monday), as he tries to strengthen his nation's business and commercial ties to the Middle East.
Earlier in the day, he wrapped up a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he offered to help the country develop a civilian nuclear energy program.
Mr. Sarkozy made the offer in a meeting with Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh Sunday, at the start of a three-day Mideast tour. The French president hopes to secure billions of dollars in civilian and military contracts for his country during his trip.
French officials say Mr. Sarkozy told the king that a team of French nuclear experts could visit Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks to explore possibilities for nuclear cooperation.
Mr. Sarkozy's government has already reached civilian nuclear deals with Algeria and Libya, and is discussing similar cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, which he will visit Tuesday.
