타이완의 제1야당인 국민당이 오늘(12일) 실시된 새 입법위원 선거에서 압승을 거뒀습니다.

민진당을 이끌고 있는 천수이뻰 총통은 선거 결과가 뚜렷해지자 이번 패배의 모든 책임을 지고 의장직에서 물러나겠다고 밝혔습니다.
국민당이 이번 대승은 3월 22일 실시된 총통선거에서 마잉주 국민당 후보에 큰 힘을 실어줄 것으로 예상됩니다.
마 후보는 타이완 독립을 추구하는 천수이뺀 총통을 비난하며 , 대선 공약으로 중국과의 관계 개선과 경제 강화 등을 내세우고 있습니다.
Taiwan's opposition Nationalist Party has won a landslide victory in parliamentary elections, prompting President Chen Shui-bian to step down as chairman of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party.
Early, unofficial results show the Nationalists winning at least 82 seats -- more than two-thirds of the 113 in Taiwan's legislature. Election officials say the final vote tallies should be available later today (Saturday).
Mr. Chen stepped down as his party's chairman after the results became clear. He said he accepts full responsibility for the Democratic Progressive Party's loss.
A strong victory in the balloting is expected to give the Nationalist Party's presidential candidate, Ma Ying-jeou, an edge in the March 22nd presidential election. Ma has been campaigning on a theme of improving ties with China and strengthening Taiwan's stagnant economy, which he blames on Mr. Chen's pro-independence stance.
