한국 국회는 이라크 파병연장안을 28일 통과시켰습니다.
국회는 이 날 본회의를 열어 올해 말까지였던 이라크 자이툰부대의 파병 기한을 내년 말까지 1년 더 연장하는 내용의 '군부대의 이라크 파견 연장 및 임무종결계획 동의안'을 의결했습니다.
국회는 재석 2백56명 가운데 찬성 1백46표, 반대 1백4표, 기권 6표로 연장안을 가결했습니다.
이날 통과된 이라크 파견 연장 동의안은 이라크 주둔 한국군이 올해 말에는 6백명만 철수하고, 나머지 6백50명은 2008년 12월말까지 임무를 수행한 뒤 철수하는 내용을 담고 있습니다.
노무현 대통령은 이라크에 한국군을 파병해 미국에 대한 지지를 보여야 한다며 파병 연장을 주장해왔습니다. 이명박 차기 대통령 당선자 역시 이라크 파병 연장안을 지지하고 있습니다.

The South Korean parliament has voted to extend the deployment of troops in Iraq for another year, but has decided to halve the country's contingent to about 650 non-combat soldiers.
Today's (Friday) vote was approved with the support of 146 South Korean lawmakers, and opposed by 104 others. Six lawmakers abstained and 42 did not show up for the vote.
Outgoing President Roh Moo-hyun called for the extension, saying South Korea needs to keep troops in Iraq to show its support for the United States.
He has also said South Korea needs to maintain its relationship with Washington because the North Korea nuclear weapons issue could take unpredictable turns.
The U.S. has about 28-thousand military personnel in South Korea to help prevent a repeat of North Korea's 1950 invasion of the south.
