추방된 관계자들은 유엔의 영국인 관계자 1명과 유럽연합 소속 아일랜드계 1명입니다.
아프간 정부는 이들이 지난 주 남부 헬만드 지방에서 탈레반 반군 관계자들과 접촉해 국가 안보에 위협을 가했다고 비난했습니다. 그러나 유엔의 한 대변인은 추방된 유엔 관계자는 국가 화해과정에 최대한 많은 아프간인들을 영입하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 지역사회 지도자들을 만나기 위해 헬만드 주를 방문했다고 말했습니다.

Two diplomats from the United Nations and the European Union have left Afghanistan after local authorities ordered their expulsion for allegedly holding unauthorized talks with Taliban insurgents.
U.N. and EU officials today (Thursday) rejected the allegations against the pair -- one British (U.N. employee Mervyn Patterson), the other Irish (acting head of the EU mission in Kabul, Michael Semple) -- as a "minor misunderstanding."
The Afghan government accuses the two men of posing a threat to national security for meeting with Taliban officials last week in southern Helmand province. The volatile Afghan region has seen frequent militant attacks and is known as a major drug producing province.
A U.N. spokesman (Aleem Siddique) said his agency's diplomat traveled to the province to speak to local community leaders as part of efforts to bring as many Afghans as possible into the national reconciliation process.
He said efforts are currently under way to secure the diplomats' return to Afghanistan.
