'손에 손 잡고-2007합동훈련'으로 명명된 이번 훈련은 앞으로 2주간 중국 남부 윈난성에서 실시되며, 양국 군인 1백여명이 참가했습니다.
한편 중국 정부는 "이번 훈련이 분리주의자와 극단주의자, 테러분자 등 '세 악의 세력'을 근절하기 위한 것"이라고 말했습니다.
중국과 인도에서는 국내 분리주의 움직임이 계속돼 왔습니다.
중국 정부는 서북쪽, 산유량이 풍부한 신장성에서 분리운동을 펴고 있는 위그르 회교도들을 단속해 왔습니다. 인도 정부도 카시미르지역의 이슬람 무장세력과 빈곤한 농촌 지역에서 공산 반군의 분리 움직임에 시달려 왔습니다.

India and China have started a joint military anti-terrorism exercise, the first such drill between the two largest armies in the world.
The week-long training mission, named "Hand-in-Hand, 2007," involves about 100 troops from each country holding exercises in southern China's Yunnan province.
Chinese officials say the drill is aimed at deterring what they call the "three evil forces" of separatists, extremists, and terrorists.
Both governments are trying to counter domestic separatist movements.
In China, the government has waged a campaign against Uighur Muslims seeking independence in the oil-rich northwestern region of Xinjian. India has long battled Islamic militants in Kashmir and communist insurgents in poor, rural communities.
