Israeli air strikes have killed 13 Palestinian militants since late Monday as part of an offensive against gunmen firing rockets into southern Israel.
Hamas says two of its members were killed today (Tuesday) in southern Gaza in an Israeli air strike on a security position of the Islamic militant group.
Senior Hamas official Ismail Radwan told Palestinian radio that all factions should retaliate. He said Israel must bear the consequences of its actions.
Israeli spokesman Mark Regev said there will be no immunity for anyone who attacks Israel.
Meanwhile, the new U.S. special envoy for Middle East security -- General James Jones -- met senior Israeli military officials today (Tuesday) in Jerusalem. General Jones also held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Jones earlier met Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak. An Israeli defense ministry statement says the two discussed a range of regional, diplomatic, and security issues.
