U.S. Defense officials say China denied another American warship access to the Hong Kong port, in the third such incident this month.
Officials today (Friday) said China last week denied the USS Reuben James a request to make a New Year's holiday stop in Hong Kong.
During the same week, China also refused port access to the USS Kitty Hawk and two U.S. minesweepers seeking safe harbor from a storm.
On Thursday, China contradicted an earlier report that its foreign minister told President Bush the incidents were the result of a misunderstanding.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao did not provide an alternative explanation. But he did note China's anger over a recent U.S. congressional award honoring the Dalai Lama, and U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
