만델슨 위원장은 중국이 계속해서 수출 성장을 원한다면 결점이 있는 제품들과 위조 제품들의 수출을 중단해야만 한다고 말했습니다.
만델슨 위원장은 베이징에서 열린 중국-EU 정상회담의 기조연설에서 이같이 말하고, 중국 제품의 질이 올해 악화됐다고 밝혔습니다.
A top European Union trade official has urged China to improve the safety of its many exports.
EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson said today (Monday) in Beijing that recent safety problems with Chinese-made products have shaken consumer confidence. He said Beijing must stop exporting defective and counterfeit goods if it expects to continue its strong export growth.
Mandelson spoke at the opening of the Sino-EU summit in Beijing, and said product quality problems worsened this year.
China's top trade official, Vice Premier Wu Yi, said she is extremely unhappy with Mandelson's remarks.
She is in charge of efforts to repair China's reputation after a series of product recalls due to toxic paint and other defects in goods from toys to toothpaste.
