Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, have met in Tehran to discuss boosting economic relations.
Iranian state media say the two sides signed agreements today (Monday) for cooperation in energy, banking and industrial work.
Mr. Chavez's brief visit to Iran today was his fourth since Mr. Ahmadinejad took office in 2005. The Venezuelan leader arrived in Tehran from Saudi Arabia, where he and Mr. Ahmadinejad had attended an OPEC summit.
At the OPEC gathering, the two leaders blamed President Bush's policies for the weakness of the dollar, which has undercut the revenues of oil-exporting countries.
The Iranian and Venezuelan presidents both called for OPEC to stop pricing oil in dollars and switch to a basket of other currencies. But, they were unable to generate enough support for such a move in the 13-member cartel, which includes U.S. allies such as Saudi Arabia.
