부토 전 총리는 지지자들 무리에 휩싸여 이 날 집을 떠나려고 두 차례 시도했지만 실패했습니다.
부토 전 총리는 집 바깥의 지지자들에게 한 연설에서, 무샤라프 대통령이 민주주의를 복원하고, 11월15일까지 참모총장직을 포기하겠다는 약속을 지킬 것을 촉구했습니다.
앞서 경찰들은 부토 전 총리의 가택을 안전상의 이유라며 포위했습니다. 경찰은 부토 총리가 어떠한 집회에도 참석하는 것을 허용할 수 없다고 밝혔습니다.
한편, 경찰은 라왈핀디에서 곤봉과 최루탄을 사용해 수백여명의 집회 개최를 저지했습니다.
Pakistani police have prevented former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto from leaving herresidence to attend a mass rally in Rawalpindi protesting emergency rule and the suspension of the nation's constitution.
Ms. Bhutto, surrounded by a group of supporters, made two attempts to leave her home in Islamabad today (Friday), but she failed to break through police barricades.
After that, she spoke to supporters outside her home, calling on General Musharraf to restore democracy and stick to his promise to give up his post as head of the army by November 15th.
Police surrounded Ms. Bhutto's residence for what they said were security reasons.
In Rawalpindi, police used batons and tear gas to disperse several hundred people who tried to gather at a park for the planned rally.
In the northwestern city of Peshawar, police say a suicide bombing killed at least four people at the home of a government minister. The political affairs minister (Amir Muqam) was not hurt.
