사망자들 중에는 귀빈들을 환영하기 위해 도열해 있던 어린이들과 저명한 국회의원인 사예드 무스타파 카지미 전 상업부장관이 들어있습니다.폭탄공격 직후 극심한 혼란 속에서 일부 통신들은 사망자수에 대해 최고 90명에 이른다는 등 다양한 보도를 했습니다.
아프간 정부는 즉각 이 공격이 비아프간적이고, 비회교적인 것이라고 비난했습니다. 아프간 주둔 나토군은 이 폭탄공격을 테러 행위라고 말했습니다.

A suicide bombing in northern Afghanistan has killed at least 40 people, including six lawmakers, in one of the deadliest attacks since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.
The bomb exploded as members of parliament were visiting a sugar factory today (Tuesday) in the town of Baghlan, north of Kabul.
Among the dead are children who had lined up to greet the delegation outside the factory. Another casualty was Sayed Mustafa Kazimi, a well-known member of parliament and a former commerce minister.
Dozens of other people were wounded. In the chaos right after the attack news agencies reported widely varying tolls, some as high as 90 people killed.
The Afghan government quickly condemned the attack as "un-Afghan" and "un-Islamic." U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon said he was deeply saddened by the attack. And the NATO mission in Afghanistan called it an act of terrorism.
Some reports say a spokesman for the Taliban denied responsibility for the attack.
Northern Afghanistan has largely been spared from violence that has gripped the south and east over the past year, where Taliban fighters have strongholds.
