친탈레반 민병대는 두 달 전 파키스탄과 아프가니스탄 접경 부근에서 납치했던 파키스탄 정부군 병사 2백 11명을 석방했습니다.
파키스탄 군대변인인 와히드 아르샤드 장군은 이들 병사가 부족원로회의인 지르가에 인계된 뒤 4일 남와지리스탄 부족 지역 소재 군 기지로 돌아왔다고 밝혔습니다.
언론매체들은 익명의 소식통을 인용해 이들 병사는 저항분자 적어도 25명을 석방한 대가로 풀려났다고 보도했습니다.
250명에 가까운 파키스탄 정부군 병사들은 지난 8월 말 이들이 탄 차량 대열이 남 와지리스탄 지역을 통과하던 중 교전없이 납치됐었습니다. 친 탈레반 민병대는 이들 병사 가운데 3명을 살해했으며 지난 달에 25명을 석방한 바 있습니다.
이들 민병대는 파키스탄 보안군에게 납치한 병사들을 석방하는 대가로 수감중인 전투원들을 석방하고 부족 지역에서 철수할 것을 요구해 왔습니다.

Pro-Taliban militants have released 211 Pakistani soldiers, two months after seizing them near the Afghan border.
Pakistan's chief military spokesman, General Waheed Arshad, said the soldiers returned to their military camp in the restive tribal region of South Waziristan today (Sunday), after they were handed over to a tribal council of elders (or jirga).
Media reports quote unnamed local sources who say the soldiers were freed in exchange for the release at least 25 insurgents. Arshad confirmed that local authorities had released some people today (Sunday) detained under tribal law.
Nearly 250 Pakistani soldiers were abducted without a fight in late August as their convoy traveled through South Waziristan. The militants killed three of the soldiers and freed 25 others last month.
The militants were demanding Pakistani security forces release detained fighters and pull out of the tribal region in exchange for the soldiers' freedom.
