The Writer's Guild of America will hold a last-ditch meeting Sunday with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, aided by a mediator from the federal government.
The guild announced the walkout on Friday, a day after its members agreed to a recommendation by its negotiators. Talks between the two sides broke down on Wednesday, hours before the current agreement expired.
The Writer's Guild has been negotiating with Hollywood production studios for a larger share of profits from sales of programs sold on DVDs and shown on the Internet.
