Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto left for Dubai today (Thursday), after saying that she was canceling the trip because of rumors that the government might declare a state of emergency.
The former prime minister said the rumors are tied to a Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of General Musharraf's re-election earlier this month. The court is to reconvene Friday.
Bhutto ended years of exile and returned to Pakistan in mid-October through a power-sharing arrangement with General Musharraf.
But since her return, Ms. Bhutto has become a fierce critic of the government and its handling of the deadly October 18th attack on her convoy during her homecoming parade.
Ms. Bhutto is visiting family members in Dubai.
