1945년 8월 6일 당시 서른살의 군 대령이었던 티버츠씨는 일본 히로시마에 세계 최초의 원자폭탄을 투하했습니다. 티버츠씨는 자신의 어머니의 이름을 따서 '에놀라 게이'라는 이름이 붙여진 B-29 폭격기를 비행했습니다.

The U.S. military pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in World War Two has died at the age of 92.
Paul Tibbets died at his Ohio home today (Thursday). He had been suffering a variety of health problems.
As a 30-year-old colonel, Tibbets flew the B-29 that dropped the world's first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The plane he piloted was called the Enola Gay, after his mother.
Tibbets never expressed regret for dropping the bomb, saying it was his patriotic duty. He once described how Hiroshima "completely disappeared under an awful blanket of smoke and fire" after the bomb exploded.
The bombing of Hiroshima killed more than 140-thousand people. Some died in the blast, while others died from illnesses caused by radiation exposure.
