미군은 이날, 남부 바그다드에서 길가폭탄이 터져 미군 한 명이 숨지고 3명이 다쳤다고 밝혔습니다.
The heads of two rival Iraqi Shi'ite groups have agreed to renounce violence against each other and all Iraqis, for the good of the country.
A statement from the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council today (Saturday) said the group's leader, Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, and radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, have agreed to cooperate through a joint committee and to unite their supporters throughout Iraq.
The two factions have a history of violence. In August, clashes between them left 51 people dead and more than 200 others wounded in the holy city of Karbala.
In other news, gunmen today fired on a convoy carrying Baghdad's Shi'ite governor, Hussein al-Tahan, as he was leaving a meeting with local officials in a mainly Sunni neighborhood. The governor escaped the attack unharmed.
Also today, the U.S. military said a roadside bomb killed an American soldier and wounded three others in southern Baghdad.
