말리키 총리는 앞으로 나머지 연국군은 전투작전보다는 이라크 군 훈련에 치중하게 될 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he believes Iraqi forces can assume security responsibilities in the southern province of Basra in the next two months.
During a visit to Baghdad today (Tuesday), Mr. Brown said he believes one thousand British troops could be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of the year, leaving a British contingent of about 45-hundred.
Mr. Brown spoke after meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who also said that Iraqi forces will be ready to handle security duties in Basra in two months.
Mr. Maliki said the remaining British troops will do less combat and more training of Iraqi troops.

In Washington, U.S. President George Bush held talks with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on the need for Iraq to pass important laws, including those on oil revenues and easing restrictions that kept former members of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party out of government and security positions.
