Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to address journalists in Washington by video conference and then give a speech at Columbia University.
Critics have said the university should not have given Mr. Ahmadinejad a platform because of Iran's alleged ties to terrorist groups. They also object to his calls for Israel's destruction and denial of the Holocaust. Columbia University officials say the Iranian leader has agreed to take questions and his views will be challenged.
Mr. Ahmadinejad is in the United States to address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.
