대만 조사당국은 중국을 위해 간첩 활동을 벌인 혐의로 정보 요원 한명을 체포했다고 24일 밝혔습니다.
대만 조사국은 돈을 받고 그 대가로 전 조사국 요원에게 정보를 넘겼다고 알려진 뒤 정보요원, 린유녕씨가 23일 구금되었다고 밝혔습니다.
대만 정보국은 또 전직 요원, 첸 치카오 씨도 체포되었다고 밝혔습니다. 조사국에 따르면 첸 씨는1997년 조사국에서 사임한뒤 상하이에서 중국 정보요원으로 활동했습니다.
린유넝 씨는 조사국의 금융 범죄과에서 일했었습니다.
Taiwan's Bureau of Investigation says it has arrested a counterintelligence officer on
charges of spying for rival China.
The BOI said today (Monday) that Lin Yu-nung was taken into custody Sunday after
allegedly handing information to a former bureau agent in exchange for money.
The BOI says the former agent, Chen Chih-kao, also was arrested.
The bureau says Chen left the BOI in 1997 to work in Shanghai as an intelligence agent for China. Lin had worked in the BOI's financial crimes unit.
China and Taiwan have been governed separately since the end of a civil war in 1949. China claims Taiwan as a renegade province and has threatened to use force against the island if it formally declares independence.
