반 총장은 5일 수단 남부의 중심도시인 주바를 떠나 다르푸르의 주도인 엘 파세르에 도착했습니다. 반 총장은 지난 4년동안 수단 정부와 다르푸르 반군 간의 충돌로 20만 명 이상의 사망자와 2백만 명 이상의 난민이 발생한 다르푸르 사태 종식을 위해 노력하고 있습니다.
반 총장은 반군단체들과 정부 사이의 평화 회담 개최 장소와 일자에 대한 구체적인 사항들이 논의되고 있다고 말했습니다.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has arrived in the Sudan's troubled western region of Darfur, as he continues to press for a solution to two separate conflicts in the central African nation.
Mr. Ban flew into Darfur's capital of El Fasher today (Wednesday) from the southern Sudanese capital of Juba. The U.N. leader is in Sudan to seek an end the four-year conflict between Khartoum and Darfur rebels that has left more than has left 200-thousand people dead and more than two million displaced.
Mr. Ban says details are still being worked out on a date and a venue to hold peace talks between the rebel groups and the government.
