레바논의 파우드 시니오라 총리는 정부군이 이슬람 무장 세력들과 석달 이상의 교전 끝에 무장 세력의 근거지였던 팔레스타인 난민촌을 완전 장악한 이후 이 교전에서 승리했다고 선포했습니다.
시니오라 총리는 이번 전투가 테러분자들을 누르고 이긴 국가적인 승리라고 평가했습니다. 시니오라 총리는 정부군이 팔레스타인 난민촌에서 탈출하려던 파타 알-이슬람 무장분자 적어도 37명을 살해한 지 불과 몇시간 만인 2일 이같이 선포했습니다. 2일의 교전에서 정부군 병사 2명도 사망했습니다.
보안 관계관들은 정부군이 무장분자 20여명을 검거했으며 잔당들이 숨어있을 지도 모를 레바논 북부 인근 지역들에서 수색 작업을 펼치고 있다고 전했습니다.
석달 째 계속되어온 양측간 교전으로 레바논 정부군 병사 150 여 명과 무장분자와 민간인 적어도 160명이 사망했으며 팔레스타인 난민촌은 거의 파괴됐습니다.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora has declared victory after the army seized control of a Palestinian refugee camp from Islamist militants after more than three months of fighting.
Mr. Siniora called the battle a national victory over terrorists. He spoke today (Sunday), hours after troops killed at least 37 Fatah al-Islam militants who were trying to escape the camp. Two soldiers were also killed in today's fighting.
Security officials say soldiers arrested more than 20 militants and are searching nearby areas in northern Lebanon for any fighters who may be hiding.
The three month battle killed more than 150 Lebanese soldiers and at least 160 militants and civilians and largely destroyed the refugee camp.
Most of the more than 30-thousand people who normally inhabit the camp fled to other areas in the early weeks of the battle.
