유엔난민고등판무관사무소는 28일 발표한 자료에서 얼마 전까지는 5만 명이었지만 이제는 매달 6만 명 이상의 이라크인들이 집을 떠나고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
유엔난민고등판무관사무소는 이라크에서의 폭력사태가 점점 더 많은 수의 이라크 인들로 하여금 집을 떠나게 하고 있다고 지적합니다.
유엔난민고등판무관사무소는 이라크인들이 자신들의 국가에서는 살아가는 데 필요한 서비스를 받기가 어렵다는 것을 깨닫고 있기 때문에 집을 떠나는 사람들의 수가 늘고 있다고 지적합니다.
또 이라크인들은 자신들이 그렇게 되기 전에 여러 민족이 섞인 지역을 떠난다고 덧붙입니다.
유엔난민고등판무관사무소는 집을 떠나 이라크 내에서 떠도는 2백만명을 포함해서 4천3백만명이 집을 떠났다고 밝혔습니다.
1천 4백 만명 정도는 시리아로 피난했고 요르단에는 약 50만명에서 75만명 정도의 이라크 난민들이 있습니다.

The U.N. refugee agency says the violence in Iraq is forcing Iraqis to flee their homes at an increasing rate.
The UNHCR said in a release today (Tuesday) that more than 60-thousand Iraqis are becoming displaced each month, up from 50-thousand a month previously.
The agency says displacement is rising because Iraqis are finding it harder to get access to social services in their country. It says many Iraqis also are leaving ethnically-mixed areas before they are forced to do so.
The UNHCR says some four-point-two million Iraqis have been uprooted from their homes, including more than two-million who are displaced within Iraq.
About one-point-four million Iraqis have fled to Syria, while Jordan is hosting about 500-thousand to 750-thousand Iraqis.
Separately, the United States says it will contribute 30-million dollars to the UNHCR and the U.N. children's agency for educational assistance for Iraqi refugee children in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt.
