미국과 북한은 다음달 1일 스위스 제네바에서 미-북 관계 정상화 실무 그룹 회의를 엽니다.
미 국무부는 27일 미-북 양국이 다음달 1일부터 제네바에서 이틀간 회의를 열기로 합의했다고 밝혔습니다. 앞서 미-북 양국은 2.13 합의에 따라 뉴욕에서 1차 미-북관계 정상화 실무그룹 회의를 연 바 있습니다. 따라서 이번 회의는 두번째로 열리는 것입니다.
이번 회의에는 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 동아태 차관보와 김계관 북한 외무성 부상이 수석대표로 참석합니다. 미-북 양국은 이 자리에서 북한 핵목록 신고를 비롯한 핵불능화와 북한에 대한 테러 지원국 해제 문제를 논의할 예정입니다.
한편 일본과 북한은 다음달 5일께 몽골의 수도 울란바토르에서 일-북 관계 정상화 실무그룹회의를 열 것으로 전해졌습니다.

The U.S. State Department says U.S. and North Korean diplomats will meet this week for talks on dismantling North Korea's nuclear program and normalizing relations.
The U.S. agreed to direct talks with North Korea as part of a six-nation nuclear disarmament deal reached in February.
The deal calls for Pyongyang to disband its nuclear weapons program in return for aid and the prospect of better relations with Washington and neighboring states.
The State Department says a U.S.-North Korean working group will meet in Geneva on Friday and Saturday. (The two sides met previously in New York in March.)
It says officials will discuss moving to the next phase of the February agreement, which calls for North Korea to declare and disable all of its nuclear programs.
The working group also will discuss North Korea's desire for diplomatic ties with the United States after more than 50 years of animosity.
