로버트 졸릭 세계은행 총재가 취임 후 처음으로 베트남을 방문해 경제발전 상황과 베트남이 직면한 여러 과제들을 점검했습니다.
이틀 일정으로 베트남을 방문한 졸릭 총재는 뉴엔 탄 둥 총리와 정부 주요 관리들을 만나 경제 지원문제 등을 논의한 뒤 내일(7일) 일본으로 떠날 예정입니다.
졸릭 총재는 베트남이 개혁 개방을 선택한 이후 이룬 눈부신 성공 스토리에 대해 찬사를 보내며 베트남의 성공이 다른 개발도상국들에 귀감이 될 수 있을 것이라고 말했습니다.
베트남은 개혁. 개방노선을 취한 이후 경제가 계속 급성장해 지난해에 8 %의 경제성장율을 기록했으며 빈곤율 역시 1990년대 이후 상당히 감소했습니다.
그러나 관측통들은 부정부패와 투자자들에 대한 법적 보호 부족, 정부의 비효율적인 운영 실태 등이 개선돼야 한다고 말하고 있습니다.
World Bank President Robert Zoellick is in Vietnam for a two-day visit to learn more about the country's economic progress and the challenges it faces.
Zoellick is to meet Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and other key officials today (Monday) before heading to Japan Tuesday.
