농수산성 관료 출신인 아카기 장관은 6월 1일 부적절한 회계 처리 문제 등으로 비판 받다 자살한 마쓰오카 도시카쓰에 이어 농수산성 장관에 취임했었습니다.

Japan's agriculture minister has resigned after the ruling party's election defeat.
Norihiko Akagi has been linked to an accounting scandal and said this (Wednesday) morning that media reports about him were partly responsible for the defeat of the ruling coalition in Sunday's election for the upper house of parliament.
A government spokesman (Yasuhisa Shiozaki) says Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has accepted the cabinet minister's resignation.
Mr. Abe's coalition suffered major losses in the election following public outcry over corruption scandals and the government's mismanagement of pension records. His ruling Liberal Democratic Party lost control of the upper house for the first time ever.
Akagi is the third scandal-plagued cabinet minister to resign since Mr. Abe took office in September. The agriculture minister had taken his post in June, after his predecessor committed suicide following money and bribery scandals.
