일본 유권자의 약 절반이 지난 29일 실시된 참의원 선거에서 패배한 자민당 소속의 아베 신조 총리의 사임을 원하는 것으로 나타났습니다.
교도통신이 30일과 31일 이틀동안 1천5백명의 유권자들을 대상으로 실시한 이번 조사에서, 응답자의 49% 이상이 아베 총리가 사임해야 하는 것으로 믿고 있다고 답변했습니다. 아베 총리의 유임을 원하는 사람은 44%에 불과했습니다.
또한 이번 조사에서 아베 총리 지지율은 지원 6월의 조사 때보다 7% 포인트 줄어든 29%로 추락한 것으로 나타났습니다.
A newly released public opinion poll in Japan says almost half of the nation's voters want Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to resign, following his party's election defeat on Sunday.
The Kyodo news agency issued the poll after surveying 15-hundred voters Monday and today (Tuesday). It says more than 49 percent of those responding believe Mr. Abe should step down. Some 44 percent say he should stay.
The poll also said the prime minister's approval rating has slipped to 29 percent - about seven percentage points lower than a previous survey in June. Mr. Abe has pledged to stay on in his post to carry out planned reforms and promote economic growth.
On Sunday, his Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner (New Komeito) won only 46 of 121 seats in an election for Japan's upper house of parliament.
