베이징 텔레비전 방송국은 18일 사실여부를 제대로 확인하지 않은 채 이 소식을 방영한 데 대해 사과했습니다. 이 방송국의 보도내용은 중국의 최대 공중파 방송인 CCTV 를 통해 지난주 전국에 재방송됐었습니다.
이 보도는 소다 음료수로 종이를 적신뒤 돼지고기맛을 유발하는 지방성 첨가물을 섞어 만두소를 만드는 장면을 보여주었습니다. 베이징 공안당국은 이 장면을 취재한 기자가 고의로 종이상자를 판매업자에게 제공해 만두안에 넣을 것을 요청했다고 밝혔습니다.
Chinese state-run media say police have detained a television reporter for allegedly faking a hidden-camera report about a Beijing street vendor using cardboard to fill meat buns.
On Wednesday, Beijing Television apologized for failing to check the authenticity of the report, which state-run China Central Television (CCTV) re-broadcast nationwide last week.
The reporter's footage purported to show fluffy buns stuffed with cardboard that a vendor had softened with caustic soda and added to pork-flavored fatty meat. Authorities in Beijing said the reporter (surnamed Zi) had provided the cardboard and asked the vendor to use it as filling.
The incident follows a series of real Chinese food scares involving fish, tainted pork, and egg yolks colored with cancer-causing dyes. The substandard products have hurt China's reputation as an exporter and alarmed China's public.
