이름을 밝히지 않은 한 당국자는 4일, 북한이 지난달에 열흘 정도 영변의 원자로 가동을 멈췄었다고 말했습니다.
한국의 연합뉴스는 원자로가 한때 중단된 것은 기계적 결함 때문이었다고 보도했습니다.
한국 정부 당국자들은 북한의 이번 영변 원자로 가동 일시 중단은 2.13 합의 이행과는 무관한 일이라고 밝혔습니다.
북한은 6자회담 2.13 합의에 따라 중유 등 경제지원을 받는 대신 지난 4월14일 부터 영변의 핵시설을 폐쇄하기로 합의한 바 있습니다. 하지만 이 합의는 방코델타아시아 BDA 은행 내 북한자금 이체와 관련한 문제로 인해 아직 이행되지 않고 있습니다.

South Korean intelligence officials say North Korea suspended operations at its only working nuclear reactor last month, but it has since resumed.
Speaking on condition of anonymity today (Monday), an official said North Korea stopped its Yongbyon nuclear reactor for about 10 days in May.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency says the shutdown took place because of an unspecified mechanical problem. The reactor makes radioactive material that can be used in bombs.
Officials are dismissing a link between the suspension and North Korea's February
agreement to start shutting down the facility permanently.
North Korea had agreed to begin closing the reactor in April in exchange for various
incentives from the United States, China, Japan, South Korea and Russia. However,
Pyongyang missed the deadline because of a separate banking dispute with the U.S.
