이란은 국가안보 위해 혐의로 이란 당국이 구금중인 이란계 미국인 네 명을 석방하라는 미국의 요구는 내정간섭이라고 비난하고 있습니다.
이란 외무부의 뫄마드 알리 호세이니 대변인은 3일, 수도 테헤란에서 기자회견을 통해 구금중인 네 명은 이란 국적자들이며 관계당국이 그들의 혐의를 조사중이라면서 이같이 비난했습니다.
이보다 앞서 조지 부시 미국 대통령은 지난 1일, 구금된 네 명을 즉각, 무조건 석방하라고 촉구했습니다.
부시 대통령은 평화활동 인사인 알리 샤케리와 학자인 할레흐 에스판디아리, 키안 타지바크쉬, 언론인 파르나즈 아지마 등 네 명의 구속자들은 부모들을 만나거나 인도적인 활동을 위해 이란을 방문중이었으며 이란에 대해 아무러 위협이 되지 않는다고 지적하면서 이들의 석방을 촉구했습니다.
Iran has accused the United States of interfering in its domestic affairs by demanding the release of four Iranian-Americans held in Tehran on charges of harming national security.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told reporters in Tehran today (Sunday) that the detainees are Iranian nationals, and authorities are reviewing their case.
In a statement Friday President Bush called for the four detainees to be freed "immediately and unconditionally."
Mr. Bush said the four (peace activist Ali Shakeri, scholars Haleh Esfandiari and Kian Tajbakhsh, and journalist Parnaz Azima) pose no threat to Iran. He noted that they went to Iran either to visit their parents or conduct humanitarian work.
